Volunteering in Sierra Leone

Extra Mile welcomes volunteers from UK/Europe with suitable experience to work both in local Goderich secondary/primary schools as well as the Extra Mile school.

Volunteers may come from a variety of specialist backgrounds – often but not always in education – and each request to volunteer will be considered on an individual basis. Past volunteers have taught alongside local staff in a variety of schools, offered professional development training to local staff as well as supplying building/engineering/carpentry skills to help develop and equip the school site.

Lengths of stay can vary from 3 weeks upwards and volunteers have their own room and shower/toilet facilities. Volunteers are expected to pay their own transport and insurance costs as well as a contribution towards their food and lodgings.

You can apply at any time to volunteer with Extra Mile

If you think you might like to volunteer please get in touch by email to extramilesierraleone@outlook.com sending your CV, explaining why you want to volunteer and outlining the specific areas of experience/skills you can offer.

Several of the charity’s UK trustees started off as volunteers themselves and one of them will contact you to respond to any queries you might have and arrange an interview either in person or via zoom.
